NESUG ’05 Recap

Over 400 people gathered in scenic Portland, Maine September 11-14 for the 18th Northeast SAS Users Group Conference. The NESUG region spans the northeast US and southeast Canada, but users from across North America converged to Portland. After the opening session on Sunday evening, attendees gathered at the welcoming reception/mixer. Attendees took in many enlightening presentations in tracks such as Programming and Manipulation, Ins & Outs, and Data Presentation over the course of the next 2½ days. Other activities included an evening of Art and Jazz at the Portland Museum of Art on Monday and the Attendee Party on Tuesday evening.

GVSUG was represented at NESUG by Earl Westerlund (NESUG Executive Committee member), Ron Foti (recipient of the SAS Institute sponsored registration give-away) and GVSUG EC members Joe Guido, Steve LaLonde, Mike Molter and Ken Borowiak. Papers presented by LaLonde, Molter and Borowiak can be found at http://nesug.org, as well as all papers from the Conference proceedings dating back to 1997.

The 19th Annual NESUG will be held in Philadelphia, PA September 17-20, 2006. The call for papers will open in February 2006, so it is not too early to start thinking about paper ideas!
