Panning for Gold: Nuggets of Helpful SAS® Code
William Csont – GVSUG executive committee memberAs a SAS® system programmer of many years experience, there are several snippets of SAS code that I may occasionally or regularly use when writing new programs. I was not blessed with a photographic memory, but fortunately for me, a computer file remembers various incarnations of similar key SAS code that performs various activities. This paper will describe several of these nuggets of SAS code.
Examples in this presentation include:
- use of a colon modifier to delete temporary datasets,
- special use of the sum function for contiguous variables,
- importing of a Microsoft Excel worksheet through use of DDE, a many to many merge that is performed using a data step
- a method of printing placeholder output to the output window when a dataset has no values.
What else will this meeting offer?
- PROC TRIVIA as presented by our very own GVSUG Vice-Chair, Michael Tomb (you’ll love this audience participation game)
- Door prizes courtesy of SAS and NESUG
- Appetizers and soft drinks provided by GVSUG
