Survey Says!

The results from the feedback survey from the October 20 meeting are shown here. I used JMP to analyze the results, so if you want to impeach me — too bad, there’s no impeachment clause in the GVSUG bylaws.

On a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 indicating strongly disagree and 5 indicating strongly agree, here are the mean responses to the four questions asked.
  1. I felt the October 20 GVSUG Meeting was worthwhile. Mean = 4.52
  2. The networking session was valuable. Mean = 3.77
  3. The presentations were valuable. Mean = 4.30
  4. I am interested in attending future GVSUG Meetings. Mean = 4.70
You can read the comments on the feedback survey here.

GVSUG Election Results

With all candidates running un-opposed in the GVSUG election, we found no need to drag the United States Supreme Court into this election, much to the relief of the Supreme Court justices. Here is the Executive Committee for the upcoming year:

Chairperson: Paige Miller
Vice Chair/Secretary: Michael Molter
Treasurer: Marla Miller
Executive Committee “At Large" Members:
  • Kenneth Borowiak
  • Michael Tomb
  • Chris Haller
  • Paul Winters
  • Joseph Guido
  • Steven LaLonde
  • Matthew Lockhart

37 Attend GVSUG Meeting

On Wednesday, October 20, 2004, 37 members of the Genesee Valley SAS Users Group attended the Fall 2004 meeting. In addition to the talks, which are listed below, we had a fun icebreaker session in which we played “SAS Bingo” to help us meet other members of the group. We had an “Ask The Experts” session in which GVSUG members submitted questions, and other members at the meeting provided lots of useful information. We had a networking session in which members met other members with similar SAS interests. Finally, we gave out some SAS “Books By Users” as door prizes.

Talks:
  • “SAS Tip” by Cheryl Huang Gorthy, Quinetix Corp.
  • “Tips & Techniques for Rapid SAS Applications Development (with code examples!)” by Tanya Kolosova
  • “Effectively Using the Indices in an Oracle® Database with SAS®” by Ken Borowiak, Howard M. Proskin and Assoc.
  • “ODS for Programmers and Statisticians” by Steven LaLonde, Rochester Institute of Technology
Here are some of our members playing “SAS Bingo”.
