Letter from the Chair

Just a couple of quick things to pass along to you after the executive committee met a couple of weeks ago. First, I’m happy to announce that our next SAS Happy Hour is scheduled. For those of you that don’t know, these are an occasion for us to get together on an informal basis for some food and drinks, talk some SAS, and get to know each other. Each has its own pre-set topic of discussion but we don’t necessarily have to stay on the same topic all night. This time, we will be meeting at The Old Toad, 277 Alexander Road, next Tuesday, December 20th, at 5:30. Our topic this time – what we can do to bring NESUG to Rochester. We hope you’ll consider joining us.

Please continue to check out our website from time to time. In the next few days, we will have an online survey for you to fill out regarding our last semi-annual meeting. We hope you enjoyed it as much we did, but whatever your thoughts are, we hope you will.share them with us so that we can continue to improve these experiences. I will let you know when this survey is available. Prizes will be available.

Finally, we are working on our spring meeting. I have been in touch with Mike Zdeb from SUNY Albany who is going to talk to us about SAS Graph. We are working on finding a facility that will allow Mike to hold a hands-on-workshop in the morning, and then have our regular semi-annual meeting in the afternoon. If any of you has a special interest in this area and would like to help with the planning, please let me know.

As always, I encourage you to send me comments, suggestions, or any questions you may have. I’ll continue to keep you up to date on the progress toward our spring meeting and whatever else there is to talk about. Hope to see you Tuesday!
