Picnic Report

On August 8, 2007, GVSUG had its 3rd annual summer picnic. For the 3rd year it was held at Ellison Park at the Sycamore shelter. We changed it up a bit this year as we had it from 5pm until 8pm, rather than the earlier time of 3-6 pm we had done in the past. There were 30 people in attendance (GVSUG members and family/friends, plus one dog) on a sunny day that was not too hot. Hotdogs, hamburgers and cheeseburgers were cooked by Vice-chairman Michael Tomb with assistance from Janet's husband (John Albright), Janet Albright, and Michael's wife Marcia. Thanks to all the members who signed up and brought a dish to pass. We had a couple of macaroni salads, a broccoli salad, regular salad, 3 bean salad, potato salad, cookies, brownies, condiments, chips and dip, watermelon, and plenty of drinks.

After people had a chance to talk and eat, GVSUG held a raffle for a few prizes. Trish Boss won a SAS stress ball, Earl Westerlund won a SAS kit containing portable USB mouse with PS/2 adapter, retractable network cable, pad and pen in a zippered case, Steve LaLonde won the PharmaSUG 2008 notepad, Melissa Yott won a free year of dues for GVSUG, and Sue Greenberg won the 50/50 raffle.

A special thanks to Howard M. Proskin and Associates Inc., who made a generous donation to GVSUG to sponsor the picnic and help defray some of the costs. Many of you saw the sign that Michael Tomb posted near the beginning of the food line acknowledging their sponsorship. Howard M. Proskin and Associates, Inc. has supported our organization many times in the past and continues to be a valuable sponsor/member.

Please be sure to keep watching for news on our
GVSUG Fall meeting on October 17th from 3-6 pm.
